This commutator stone is for cleaning carbon buildup on the armature commutator on all D series and E-2 Rainbow vacuum cleaners. Carbon buildup on your commutator can reduce performance and may not allow the motor to run smoothly.
NOTE: This stone does not perform the process of "Seating" the motor brushes. It is designed to be used during and after the seating process to remove carbon buildup.
We have reduced the price on this item and will ship a small piece meant for 5-6 uses. There is no need to order a full 4 sticks for do-it-yourself repairs.

Got this stick with the carbon brushes for an old D4, but didn't end up using it. I had some 6000 grit wet/dry sandpaper and used that instead. Would work though, and I'll keep it around for other dirty commutators.
