"Not very well designed - RainbowMate, Model RM-12 (Black) Version 2. This Rainbow Mate was brand new 2 weeks prior, sent to me at a cost of $70 to replace one I sent for repair and was lost by the service center 2 years ago. I have several dogs which sleep on a cloth couch and come in and out at will. The couch was cleaned several times and a ten step carpeted staircase done once. 1: The belt that drives the roller brush runs off a smooth polished very small gimbaled bump on the drive pin. This design error allows the smooth belt driving the brush to stop spinning with any resistance (Cloth, Rugs, hand etc.) which causes the Rainbow Mate to be useless for hair pickup. (To test, put your hand on the brush and see how little pressure it takes to stop the brush) 2: Unlike the large Rainbow floor brush, the Rainbow Mate is not sealed well against hair entering the housing and jamming the roller's bearings which causes the brush roller to stop permanently. 3: The Rainbow Mate is very difficult to take apart for repair and cleaning (which has to be done often). The two halves are held together with 4 screws (which are easy to remove) and four tabs, two of which are needed to "Pop" open the two halves and are very difficult to "Pop". I needed a video to make certain I wasn't damaging the Rainbow Mate. There are no videos on YouTube on the new E2 Rainbow Mates to help and none on Rainbows web site. A call to the Rainbow service center was necessary. They informed me there were no screws and the tabs are easy to "Pop". I informed him he doesn't know his product because at the time I was sitting there looking at the screws that I just removed which had to be removed to open the case. After getting really angry at my ignorance he eMailed me a video to dismantle the Rainbow Mate. The video clearly stated FIRST: "REMOVE" the "4 SCREWS". Then "Pop" the tabs by applying forward pressure ""Carefully" using a large screwdriver so as to not damage the case halves" I used the largest screwdriver commonly available and still damaged the slots because of the heavy amount of pressure required to "Pop" the tabs. This is something you would not want to do often or you will shortly render the case halves unusable. The case was packed solid with hair and debris rendering the roller brush to stop and be useless. The Rainbow Mate should get a Zero rate but they don't allow that."
